Hey everyone!
Don’t forget that the session proposals for the 2007 ANTSHE conference are due September 30th! We still need a lot of sessions, so please encourage professionals and students from your institution to submit a proposal. Details below…
Call for Proposals
The 10th Annual National Conference of the Association for Non-Traditional Students in Higher Education is quickly approaching, and it is time to begin submitting your session proposals. The conference will be held March 23 – 25, 2007 at
The National Conference of the Association for Non-Traditional Students in Higher Education (ANTSHE) is a conference designed for non-traditional students as well as the professionals that work with non-traditional students. This year, in addition to targeting these two groups, we will be expanding our offerings to provide sessions for the spouses/partners of non-traditional students.
The Theme for the conference is Leaders in Transition. We chose this theme because we recognize the fact that non-traditional students are already leaders, and are in the process of a transition from the workforce to college, and back again. The goal of the conference is to find ways to make these transitions easier. We also seek to maximize our leadership abilities, both in and out of the university setting, and use these abilities to build successful programs. Of course, we won’t leave the professionals out! We will also work to help professionals learn to better provide support and advocacy for non-traditional students on their campuses and to successfully meet the challenges of their positions.
The conference will be divided into four tracks, which are Student, Professional, Collaborative (applicable to both students and Professional), and Spouse/Partner. Examples of possible sessions include: Stress management, Surviving as a single parent, Influencing university policy, Building your student organization, and Strategies for dealing with faculty and administrators. Be creative, and don’t hesitate to contact us for more suggestions.
Proposals are due by September 30, 2006. The acceptance committee will review all proposals and contact you for more information. Applicants will be notified of their proposal acceptance by December 1, 2006.
If you would like more detailed information about the proposal process or the conference, please visit www.osunontrads.org. You may also contact Shanda Smith, the Programming sub-committee chair at sshanda@okstate.edu. The proposal application is available on-line. For more information on ANTSHE, please visit www.antshe.org.
Please note that each presenter who plans to attend other portions of the conference must register for the conference. ANTSHE does not pay presenters honoraria, reimburse expenses (e.g. travel, lodging or copying), or waive conference registration fees.
We’ll see you there!
Shanda Smith,
Programming Committee Chair

I would love to attend the national conference this year, although the Non-Trad organization at my school does not have the funds. We are trying to plan our budget for this next coming year, and I was curious if anyone could tell me about a conference next year. Such as were it would be held, so that I can plan to include the costs in our budget for next year. If anyone has information about this, could they please email me at mez4616@uncw.edu.
Best regards,
Michael Zezefellis
VP of Non-Trad org. at UNCW.
